BREWERTON, NY – JUNE 18, 2013 (By Dave Medler) – After last season’s successful SUNY Canton Sportsman races at the Brewerton Speedway, competitors and fans were asking for more at the “D-Shaped Dirt Demon.” This Friday, June 21st that will happen as round one of the Industrial Tire Of CNY Sportsman Shootout Series will take place at the popular Route 11 facility.

What makes Sportsman races unique to the speedway is there is no home track advantage because they are not on the weekly racing card. Proof of that is last year when high school student Ron Davis III upset a field of well over 40 cars in one of the events. It will be a must see show when some of the best Sportsman drivers in the region sign in the pits Friday.

Also on the race card on Beam Mack and TK 99 Classic Rock 99.5/105.5 night will be the 800 horse power Tracey Road Equipment Big Block Modifieds, Anchor Bar and Grill Mod Lites and Four Cylinder Super Stocks.

Can the Tracey Road Equipment Big Block Modifieds get to its fifth different driver to visit victory lane with no repeat winner this season? Drivers to visit victory lane so far with no repeat winner are, Billy Decker, Jimmy Phelps, Rob Bellinger and Chad Phelps. Matt Sheppard might not have a win yet, but he has used consistency to find himself at the top of the point standings. Last year’s track champion, Jimmy Phelps is only 18 points behind in second, followed by Larry Wight (24) Rob Bellinger (32) and Willy Decker (34) points out of first.

The unpredictable Anchor Bar & Grill Mod Lites continue to entertain on a weekly basis. Jeff Isabell Jr. and 2012 track champion Mike Mullen find themselves deadlocked atop the standings. Just 2 points behind is Alan Fink with Doug Williams and Rick Demo within striking distance in the top-five.

Can anyone stop Chuck Powelczyk? The last time the Four Cylinder Super Stocks hit the speedway, Powelczyk racked up career win No.60 in the Four Cylinder Super Stocks. What makes his wins amazing is his car is on its 16 season of competition.
