FULTON, NY – AUGUST 7, 2013 (By Dave Medler) – Have you always sat in the grandstand and thought you’d like to get out and challenge the “High Banks” of the Fulton Speedway. This Saturday night August 10th is your chance as the One-On-One Spectator will hit the speedway. All you need is registered, insured street vehicle, a valid driver’s license and a D.O.T approved helmet and you’re ready to race and have a good time.
On the race card presented by Coca-Cola will be the Tracey Road Equipment Big Block Modifieds, SUNY Canton Sportsman, NAPA Late Models, E&V Energy Novice Sportsman, Four Cylinder Super Stocks and Mod Lites.
Last Saturday night for the second time this season Robbie Bellinger was able to hold off Billy Decker by less than a second on the AMB scoring for his second win of the year in the Tracey Road Equipment Big Block Modifieds. Every week in the top-five in the point standings things seem to change as quick as a lap around the track. Here are the standings coming into this Saturday with only four point paying races this season. Pat Ward (572) Ryan Phelps (558) Billy Decker (552) Larry Wight (541) Tom Sears Jr. (528).
SUNY Canton Sportsman driver Beth Schneider looked like she was going to take a big hit in her points lead. During her heat race, an incident happened right in front of her leaving her no place to go. Schneider took a hard hit into the front straight wall doing significant damage to her car. Thanks to Taylor Lamb and his race team, Beth was able to climb behind the wheel of his car for the 20 lap feature. Starting dead-last, Schneider was able to bring home a top-ten finish. Sportsman points coming into this week. Beth Schneider (606) Ronnie Davis III (565) Tony Finch II (506) Rocco Leone (501) Jim Spano (493).
The NAPA Late Models as close as their racing has been its streaks of three, three wins in a row. Alan Fink and Rick Miller accomplished that, now you can add the name Dale Caswell to the, Three in a row,” club as he pulled down his third straight win last week. Caswell now holds a 12 point lead over Rick Miller that looks like the champion might be decided on the final night. Dale Caswell (660) Rick Miller (648) Alan Fink (618) AJ Kingsley (552) Sean Beardsley (518).
In the E&V Energy Novice Sportsman a season high 20 cars signed in the pits. It looks like it’s going to come right down to end between two drivers, Gary Hoppins and Jeremy Dygert as only 20 points separate them. Gary Hoppins (674) Jeremy Dygert (654) Hilary Ward (536) Kyle Kiehn (504) Ricky Yelle (486).
When Chuck Powelczyk gets the lead at any race anywhere it’s usually over. Last Saturday night nobody told rookie Kyle Young that. Young used a late race pass to get by Powelczyk to grab his first career win. Here is a look at the standings. Skip DeGroff (650) Eric Zirbel (570) Mark Johnston (566) Justin Buske (460) Keith Zirbel (448).
