DUNDEE, NY — official release — Yates County Speedway in Dundee is gearing up for a big day of racing this Sunday.

The Race of Champions Street Stocks and Empire State Series for the IMCA Modifieds highlight a big day of racing beginning at 5:00 p.m.  The Late Models have been removed from the schedule for this show only.

In addition to the RoC Street Stocks and IMCA Modified Empire State Series, the 602 Crate Sportsman, NY6A Micro Sprints and Four Cylinders will all be in competition on Sunday.  Race time is 5:00 p.m. with pit gates opening at 2:30 p.m. in the pits and 3:00 p.m. in the grandstand.

Expect a strong field of cars in all divisions for this special Sunday event.  The current Street Stock point leader is Shane Wolf, Sr. by virtue of his win in April at Five Mile Point Speedway.  Matt Roberts, Daryl Krebs, Gene Sharpsteen and Tom Savercool rounded out the top five finishers.  Yates County Speedway has been averaging 23 Street Stocks for a regular show.  They will be out to show the invaders the fast way around the track.  Although regular track points will not be on the line, 25 points will be awarded to every Street Stock driver that attempts to qualify.

Jake Karlnoski, by virtue of two consecutive wins, is the current Yates County Speedway point leader.  Jared Hill is a close second ahead of Jeremy Potrzebowski, Chuck Winslow and Cory Costa.  Will one of the track regulars take home the $500 top prize or will it go to an invader?  We will find out this Sunday.

The Empire State IMCA Series will be in competition this Sunday.  Chris Fleming would like to pick up where he left off on Memorial Day Weekend when he picked up the win at Skyline.  James Cornell is the current point leader on the series.  He holds just a two point advantage over Gary Roberts, who is just one point ahead of Gary Smith.  Last week’s winner and current point leader at Yates County, Jared Spalding, is fourth with Fleming rounding out the top five.

The 602 Crate Sportsman will be competing in a full show for full track points.

Although he has yet to reach victory lane, Brady Fultz has used consistent finishes to vault himself to the top of the point standings.  He is two markers ahead of two time feature winner Fran Hilton, who is tied for second with Josh Keesey.  Last week’s feature winner Casey Pavlick is currently fourth with Chris Fisher rounding out the top five.

The NY6A Micro Sprints will invade Yates County Speedway for the first time this year.  Expect a strong field of cars to be in competition based on their recent outings.  They are coming off a 28 car showing at their last series event.  The will be competing in a 25 lap feature.

The Four Cylinders will round out the show with a full track points paying event.

They have been putting on tremendous shows all season long with three and four car battles for the win a common sight.  Scott Bradley has been the man to beat so far this year as he leads the way with a 12 advantage over Rick Horton.  Chad Ayers, Del Cummings and Jayson Smart round out the top five.

The BRP/Crate Late Models were originally scheduled to compete but have been removed from the schedule for this event.  It’s no secret that the car count has been poor in the Late Model division and track management is currently working on some things to rectify that.  Watch for an upcoming announcement regarding the Late Models moving forward in 2014.

Don’t miss a minute of the action this Sunday at Yates County Speedway.  Pit gates open at 2:30 p.m., grandstand gates at 3:00 p.m. and race time is 5:00 p.m.  For further information check out our Facebook page!
