ABINGTON, Mass — official release — The accomplishments just keep mounting for Nick Lascuola at Seekonk Speedway this season.

On Friday night, Nick won for the 12th time in 2014 in the INEX Legend Cars and set another track record, this time for most wins in one season in one division.

He already had set a record for most consecutive wins to start the year and had moved into 20th on the track’s all-time win list prior to last week’s race.

Nick started 12th on the field and took advantage of a couple of early yellows in front of him to gain some spots early.  He was in third by lap 4, and then ran into a challenge trying to get by Jason Melberg for second.

Melberg was throwing the block on the bottom.  Nick sized up the situation for a lap or two, then went to the top and shot by both Melberg and Jariah Roderick to take the lead and the eventual win.

“Twelve wins is pretty amazing,” Nick said afterward.  “I never expected this kind of a season in the Legend car.  There are so many cars here and the competition is definitely there.  You really have to work hard to get through the field every week.  I am happy for 15-40 Connection and Barrett’s Haunted Mansion as well as for our other partners who work with us to make this happen.  I can’t thank them enough!”

Saturday’s Late Model race was rained out.

This coming week is Championship week at Seekonk.  On Friday, Nick takes to the track for another 25-lap Nick’s Pit Stop INEX Legend Car race before competing in a 30-lap feature with the Late Model on Saturday.

Nick is tied for fourth in Late Model points, just 6 points out of third, which was his goal for his rookie season in the division.

“We wanted to win a race and finish top three in points,” he stated.  “We have one race left to get the points goal and two shots left to win a race.  We’re looking forward to this weekend!”
