The entry list for the Tri Track Open Modified Series has now eclipsed fifty drivers — and continues to pick up the biggest names in short track racing.
Keith Rocco, the 2014 New London-Waterford Speedbowl SK Modified Track Champion and third place finisher in the NASCAR Whelen All-American Series national point standings, has announced that he will be competing full-time on the Tri Track Series this upcoming season.
“There [are] a lot of cars entered and we like the challenge,” Rocco told Race Chaser Online. “An opportunity came up with a car that was going to be sitting around, and my owner from Mr. Rooter Plumbing said ‘Let’s go win some of those races.'”
Rocco has also won races on the Valenti Modified Racing Series in his career, including most recently at New London-Waterford at the conclusion of the 2014 racing season in October. The tracks that are on the Tri Track Open Modified Series schedule are tracks that Rocco has excelled at in the past.
“I am really looking forward to Lee,” the veteran expressed. “We ran well there at the end of last year.”
Rocco has collected multiple SK and Late Model wins and championships at the renamed New London-Waterford Speedbowl, and is a weekly front-runner in anything he gets behind the wheel of. The Connecticut native also announced that his schedule is jam-packed for 2015. He will be running Waterford and Thompson Speedway Motorsports Park with both the Late Model and SK Modified and will be competing full-time at Stafford in 2015 in the SK Modified.
“Vinny Beedle from Mr. Rooter Plumbing is a great guy to have on your side, he owns a couple of my cars,” Rocco said. “We are excited for the chance to win some of these races.”
The Tri Track Open Modified Series is a four-race series that will hold events at Lee USA Speedway on May 17, Monadnock Speedway on June 13, Seekonk Speedway on July 1 and New London-Waterford Speedbowl on September 13.
