PENN YAN, NY — Story by Race Chaser Online New York Correspondent Steven Ovens — Turn 5 Racing Podcast Photo and Podcast — In what has become a running theme in 2014, Mother Nature has become the most frequent winner in 2014 on the New York dirt tracks.

She conjured up a feast of storms that stretched as far north as the Peace Bridge leading to Canada and stretched as far down as Pennsylvania.  The first tracks in Western NY to lose shows were the Little Valley Speedway and Ransomville Speedway.  Other tracks began to follow suit as they began to see storms working their way east with no sign of the storm breaking apart.

The Brewerton Speedway was a track that was able to hold on the longest as they were prepared to race late in the afternoon as long as they didn’t take on any addition rain.  However the storms brought enough rain to eventually wash out the action at the D-Shaped Dirt Demon at approximately 4:30pm.

Other tracks that had held on but would be forced to cancel were the Oswego Kartway, Penn Can Speedway, I-88 Speedway, Albany-Saratoga Speedway, Williams Grove Speedway in PA that was to host the All-Star Circuit of Champions.  One speedway that we often cover on Turn 5 and Race Chaser was on a scheduled off-weekend at the Yates County Speedway.

We do have to tip our caps to the Freedom Speedway as they were one of the only tracks we know of in New York that did get their show in.  They held out through the rains that swept through Western NY and were able to get their show in.  Surely being in Western NY helped them as the rains moved through in the early afternoon and they didn’t take nearly as much rainfall as Little Valley and Ransomville did.

With all of the rains in New York, we thought this would be a good opportunity for you to catch up with this week’s episode of the Turn 5 Racing Podcast powered by Race Chaser Online.  Listen in as Hosts Steven Ovens and Clint Miller banter with Producer Brad Ovens and bring you the news, results and discussion from around the dirt world in the Finger Lakes and Southern Tier of New York State.  They release a weekly Podcast that can be found at turn5.podbean.com and can be subscribed to on iTunes by searching Turn 5 Racing Podcast.
