WOODHULL, NY — official release — Since the Drake family took over the Woodhull Raceway in 1997, the Steuben county 1/3 mile oval has been home to one of the best firework shows in all of Western New York, on the last Saturday in June and this year is no different
On June 28th, the annual Jim Williams Memorial trophy races will be on hand at the Woodhull Raceway, as beautiful trophies will be presented to the six main event winners that night, as well as a fireworks extravaganza, and a chicken barbeque put on by the Woodhull Fire dept.
Ted White, who is now in his 5th year of owning the historic Steuben County track has been working with fireworks personnel from Galeton, PA to put on yet another fireworks spectacular for fans from all over.
“Jim Williams started this way back when, the Drakes moved it to the next level and now we want to make it even bigger. The fireworks show at the Woodhull Raceway attracts spectators from all across the region. People move their campers in a week before the event. Every seat is taken an hour after the gates open, but there is always room for everyone. The Woodhull Fire Department sells a thousand chicken dinners before race time. The racing is great and then after dark the real fun will begin.” That according to Ted White.
One of Woodhull Raceways premier marketing partners, Instant Heat Wood Pellets, of Addison, NY will be presenting the highlighted event.
Pre-event ticket sales will begin this Saturday June 21st at the track during regular race hours. One day reserved seating just for the June 28 event will be available at the track from 10:00 am until 12:00 pm at the track the day of the event. Those wishing to reserve a seat just for the night are encouraged to bring a blanket, plastic or cardboard as well as duct tape to securely fasten it to the wooden bleachers. Reserved seating is $5.00 for the night.
