SEEKONK, Mass. — Story by Race Chaser Online New England Correspondent Kyle Souza —
The Seekonk Speedway has announced a change in their 2016 schedule and drivers, teams and fans need to take notice.
The U.S. National Championship Pro Stock race that was originally scheduled for Tuesday July 12 has been rescheduled for the following day, Wednesday July 13. The event is scheduled for 200 laps and will highlight the top Super Late Model talents from not only across the Northeast, but Seekonk itself.
Pro Stocks race weekly at the 1/3 mile oval under the NASCAR Whelen All-American Series banner, with 40 lap feature events. Multiple former track champions like Fred Astle and Rick Martin compete wheel-to-wheel with youngsters like defending champion Angelo Belsito and Nick Lascuola.
The U.S. National Championship event was moved to the following day to allow driver’s more of a chance to get their cars ready for the race after racing the weekend before. Changes will need to be made to all Seekonk cars from the regular track rules in order to meet the rules for this special event.
Seekonk Speedway expects to release the format for the event and the official rules for all driver’s in the coming weeks. For more information on Seekonk, fans should visit www.seekonkspeedway.com
