The new partnership between Morgan Lucas Racing Top Fuel driver Morgan Lucas and Sig Sauer goes beyond the race track.
Sig Sauer firearms will adorn Lucas’ Top Fuel car at the Toyota NHRA Summernationals this weekend at Old Bridge Township Raceway Park and at the NHRA New England Nationals next weekend at New England Dragway in Epping, N.H.
Sig Sauer and Lucas Oil Products are also partnering off the track as Lucas Oil’s high-performance firearm lubrication and cleaning products will serve as the official lubrication of Sig Sauer.
“Sig Sauer is so involved in trying to supply our military as well as our local police officers with quality firearms to protect this country,” Lucas said. “They also offer different elements of protection for individuals. Lucas Oil is working out a partnership with Sig Sauer to supply them with lubricants for their guns, and through this partnership, we decided to work out some marketing opportunities together. We’re very excited to have them on board.”
The partnership is a perfect match between two of the leading companies in their fields in the United States.
“Sig Sauer is very excited to partner with Lucas Oil Products and to use and recommend the new Lucas Oil Outdoor Line of gun-care products as the official lubrication of Sig Sauer,” said Tom Taylor, vice president of Marketing at Sig Sauer. “Sig Sauer knows that the Lucas Oil Outdoor Line’s high-performance firearm lubrication and cleaning products are an ideal match for the high-performance firearms that Sig Sauer manufactures.
“Speaking of high performance, we are thrilled to be prominently featured on one of the Morgan Lucas Racing Top Fuel cars. The MLR/Sig Sauer car, driven by Morgan Lucas, will be running at the Summernationals in Englishtown, N.J., and the New England Nationals in Epping, N.H., Sig’s own backyard. With Sig and Lucas fans cheering us on, I know we will be shooting for the winner’s circle.”
Lucas is an 11-time winner in the NHRA Top Fuel class and would love to christen the Sig Sauer partnership with a win in the next two races.
“It’s an honor to represent them,” Lucas said. “I’m looking forward to going to Englishtown and running well and showcasing a company like that and a partnership we have with Lucas Oil. It’s two quality brand names, and we want to run well, turn a lot of heads, and show everyone that good companies can create good products.”
Lucas is making his third start of the 2015 season, though MLR teammate Richie Crampton has been stellar in the Lucas Oil dragster, winning two races so far. Crew chief Aaron Brooks will tune both MLR cars in Englishtown.
“We had a couple of little issues in Gainesville, Fla.,” Lucas said. “We had to spend some time in Atlanta sorting them out, and I made a rookie mistake 11 years into my career. It’s funny how you can still do those things. But the car is there, and all the early incrementals we’ve had are really good.
“With Aaron (Brooks) tuning both of these cars, I have all the confidence in the world. And the way Richie has been driving, it shows that our team is really close to being one of those upper-echelon teams. To have two wins this early in the season is a big deal. I’m excited to go hit the gas and try to bring home another trophy.”
