Bellingham, MA, June 3, 2013–An action packed double-header weekend, with races at both Waterford Speedbowl in Waterford, CT and Seekonk Speedway in Seekonk, MA turned the 2013 racing season around for #27L Pro4 Modified driver Derek Robbie.  Dedication and a positive never-give-up attitude led to two top five finishes overall at both tracks, with a limited division win at Waterford on Saturday and another 1st place limited division finish in the Pro4 Modifieds of New England series  at Seekonk on Sunday.

The weekend began with a trip to the Connecticut shoreline to participate in Waterford’s Four Cylinder Fury event.  “The car was a touch loose in practice. At that point we were just looking to finish the heat and get to the feature.  Thanks to positive thoughts and messages from friends and sponsors all day, I was able to keep my head on straight and pick up the win for the limited division, and 5th place overall.”  Robbie dedicated the win to his sister, who has been battling health problems.  “This one’s for you sis,” he said before heading to Seekonk for the second race of the weekend.

“There’s no win today,” said crew chief Doug Robbie after practice and before the feature at Seekonk.  “We’re just here to have fun.  The guys up at the front (competitors not in the limited division) have so much more horsepower than we do.”  Perseverance and a touch of luck would change his thinking, putting Robbie in 5th place overall for the second day in a row, once again finishing 1st in the limited division.

“It was a weekend of near misses,” said the younger Robbie.  “The car was loose as a goose in practice and we spun in the feature (at Seekonk).  It was really sweet to finish so well at our home track, especially since it will be the only time the Pro4 Modifieds of New England Series will visit the action track of the east in 2013.  Thanks to Waterford and Seekonk for putting on great shows, to my dad and crew chief for working so hard on the car, and to all my family, friends, and sponsors for always believing in me.  It was an awesome weekend!”

Robbie’s next race in the #27L Pro4 Mod is a return to Monadnock Speedway in Winchester, NH on Saturday, June 15th.  For more information about the races please visit
