BREWERTON, NY – SEPTEMBER 12, 2013 (By Dave Medler) – In less than a month it will be time for one of the most exciting events in modified racing, the 21st Annual “Hurricane 100” presented by Ferries Industries and SUNY Canton. On Thursday, October 10th, in what race fans are calling “The Race Of The Week,” we will see the Northeast’s best Big Block and Small Block Modified drivers converge on the Brewerton Speedway for a 100 lap event.

In the 2012 race, Fonda Speedway regular Matt Delorenzo led the opening 44 laps before Utica-Rome Speedway Champion, Stewart Friesen took control of the race. While Friesen looked to run away and hide, track regular Billy Decker had other ideas wrestling the lead away from Friesen on lap 84. Once out front, Decker was able to hold off Friesen and the rest of the field for the big payday.

To show the diversity of the field, the top-five were represented from different speedways. Billy Decker (Brewerton) Stewart Friesen (Utica-Rome) Ryan Godown (New Egypt Speedway) Jimmy Phelps (Brewerton) Matt Delorenzo (Fonda). Who will take the checkers in the 2013 race? Will it be a track regular or an invader?

Also on the race card will be the Anchor Bar & Grill Mod Lites as they will be crowning their 2013 Champion. If you have never seen the Mod Lites don’t let their size fool you as they are fast, high tech race cars.
