BREWERTON, NY – JUNE 28, 2013 (By Dave Medler) – Like the movie Groundhog Day where a guy lives the same day over and over again, Mother Nature seems to have her own version for the Brewerton Speedway during the 2013 racing season. Heavy and steady over night rains have once again saturated the entire grounds forcing the speedway staff to cancel the Friday, June 28th racing program.
You can still get your racing fix tomorrow night, June 29th at the Fulton Speedway for the Jr. Fan Club Bike Giveaway. On the race card will be the Tracey Road Equipment Big Block Modifieds, SUNY Canton Sportsman, NAPA Late Models, E&V Energy Novice Sportsman, Four Cylinder Stocks and Mod Lites. Gates open at 5:00 with racing at 7:00.
In just a few days the “D-Shaped Dirt Demon” will celebrate July 4th in a big way. The holiday weekend starts with a bang on Wednesday, July 3 with one of the largest fireworks displays in Central New York. This free-to-the-public display is set-off at dusk just south of the track on the Oneida River. Fans are welcomed to park at the speedway and take the short walk to the optimum viewing locations near the river. Speedway sponsors, the Waterfront Tavern and the Anchor Bar and Grill, are both waterfront locations that will provide comfortable and optimum viewing. Fans are encouraged to arrive early, as thousands of spectators pack the Brewerton area for the display.
It is only fitting that Sprint Cars, known as ‘America’s Race Car’, highlight the first race night of the Red, White and Brew weekend. The Lucas Oil ESS Sprints will make their first of two 2013 stops at Brewerton on Thursday, July 4. The event will be the second of a four-leg New York Sprint Week for the ESS stars, with a great field of the winged warriors expected to be in action. Joining the ESS will be the popular SUNY Canton Sportsman. The race will be round-two of the exciting Industrial Tire Of CNY Sportsman Shootout Series. Not only will the Sportsman be racing for $1,000 to win, there will also be a guaranteed spot that puts the winner into the automatic re-draw for the Industrial Tire Of CNY Sportsman Shootout race that’s part of the 28th annual Sunoco Fulton Ethanol Facility Outlaw 200 Weekend presented by SUNY Canton October 4-5.
The Brewerton Speedway will come right back the following night, July 5th with a full card of 800 horsepower Tracey Road Equipment Big Block Modifieds, Nationwide Insurance IMCA Modifieds, Anchor Bar & Grill Mod Lites and Four Cylinder Super Stocks. The night will be capped off by a big fireworks display.
Then on Saturday night, July 6th the Fulton Speedway will offer for just $20 the Lucas Oil Empire Super Sprints, Tracey Road Equipment Big Block Modifieds, SUNY Canton Sportsman, NAPA Late Models, E&V Energy Novice Sportsman, Four Cylinder Stocks and a big fireworks display. Bring your ticket stub from either the July 4th or July 5th Brewerton races and receive $2 off your grandstand admission.
