RANSOMVILLE, NY — Story, Photo and Audio by Race Chaser Online Correspondent Steven Ovens — Tim McCreadie, better known recently for his Late Model racing than for the Modified racing which came before, came to Ransomville to drive a backup car to Scott Kerwin and laid it to the 22 car field of Modifieds to win $3,000 and start his weekend off on the right foot.
The Blue Cross and Blue Shield 7T was dominant right off the truck at “The Big R”. McCreadie also walked away with his heat race in convincing fashion. The other heat races were taken by Danny Johnson and Jeff McGinnis.
It was a tough night for Ransomville regulars and names we are accustomed to seeing run up front. Erick Rudolph and Chad Brachman got into a jingle in their heat race and both cars would suffer front-end damage requiring repair prior to the feature. They suffered similar fates in the opening laps of the 50 Lap feature. Neither would contend for the win or a Top-5 finish.
Tim McCreadie and Sam Crogan led the field to green and McCreadie showed he was going to be the man to beat. He would pull to a lead of a half-straightaway prior to yellow flag periods on Laps 4, 9, 12 and 19.
What started as a great night for Jeff McGinnis came to a screeching halt on Lap 23 when he launched the motor in his 1R ride coming off Turn 4. In talking to the team after the races, we learned that this is the third time this motor has blown up.
As McCreadie set sail in the next zip code over, there was a great battle back in the field for positions 2 through 5. Randy Chrysler was impressive in his 21k, while Robbie Krull, Danny Johnson and Crogan battled for third through fifth.
Chrysler’s lone chance to give McCreadie a run was on Lap 41 when the yellow came out. McCreadie at that point had a full straightaway lead and was pulling away from the field.
However when the green flag came back out, McCreadie pulled away again and would not look back. He went on to pick up the Tri-Track Modified Series win, earning himself $3,000. Chrysler had to settle for 2nd, Krull came home 3rd, Johnson 4th and Crogan rounded out the Top-5. 6th through 10th were Rudolph, Chad Chevalier, Pete Bicknell, Tom Flannigan and Brachman.
