There is a hotly contested debate between the 360 “open” late model cars and cars powered by GM Crate motors and whose model of racing is best for the race teams, track promoters and fans.
One team that will not be caught in the middle of the debate for 2014 is the Schuyler Racing team owned by long-time local dirt racing fanatics Jim and Sharon Schuyler. The Schuyler name has long been synonymous with local tracks like the Woodhull Raceway and the Black Rock Speedway (formerly the Dundee Raceway).
Jim and daughter Jamie have both spent time behind the wheel of a “Schuyler Chassis” 57J but 2014 will mark the beginning of a new era for Schuyler Racing. Jamie’s husband Jared Hill will take the reigns of the family-owned 57J as he plans to attack the 2014 BRP CanAm Late Model Series on a full-time basis.
Hill will start the season at the Woodhull Raceway to start accumulating ‘home track points’ for the BRP tour which now incorporates both series race points and home track bonus points to determine the year-end series champion. Woodhull runs several races before fellow BRP Late Model home track Raceway 5 near Batavia, NY opens their season.
Hill and Schuyler invited Race Chaser Online & the Turn 5 Racing Podcast out to Schuyler Chassis in Himrod, NY to talk about 2014 and the great Crate debate.
