THOMPSON, Conn. — Story by Race Chaser Online New England Correspondent Kyle Souza —

After a 23-year hiatus, the American Canadian Tour is going to rock the Nutmeg State.

Announced on Monday afternoon, the ACT Tour will be hanging lefts at Thompson Speedway Motorsports Park for the first time since 1992, announcing a date at the legendary track for the 2015 season as part of the annual World Series of Speedway Racing.

The tour has not competed in a race in the state of Connecticut since 2010, when they visited the Waterford Speedbowl on two occasions. Joey Polewarczyk Jr collected the checkers in both of those races.

The 100 lap feature event will be the final race of the ACT Tour’s season, meaning they will crown their overall points champion at the event. It will be the headline race of the World Series Saturday schedule, which will take place as this middle day of the October 15-17th weekend next season at Thompson.

“We are delighted that Thompson has invited ACT to the dance,” said Darla Hartt, Vice President and General Manager for ACT, as part of the series announcement. “NASCAR Modifieds, Thompson Speedway Motorsports Park’s own Modified and Late Model divisions, the Valenti Modified Racing Series, Mini Stocks, really, just about every kind of asphalt stock car division in New England is at Thompson’s World Series. We are excited to show fans at TSMP an ACT Late Model 100 lap championship race.”

“It’s hard to add value to an event like the World Series, but we know we did just that with the addition of the Championship race for the American Canadian Tour,” added Thompson General Manager Josh Vanada. “We are honored to have the opportunity to crown the Tour champion, and wish to thank Tom Curley for working with us to make it happen.”

Vanada also told Race Chaser Online that the 2015 Thompson racing schedule will be released on December 1st.  The annual Icebreaker and Sunoco World Series as part of four appearances from the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour are expected to headline the schedule.

The ACT Tour is also expected to release their 2015 schedule in the coming weeks.
