INDIANAPOLIS – official release — Richard Dole/LAT photo — Marsh Racing has announced the addition of Burt Frisselle to the team’s No. 31 Whelen Engineering Corvette Daytona Prototype for the next two IMSA TUDOR United SportsCar Championship events at Indianapolis Motor Speedway and Road America in which Frisselle will co-drive with Eric Curran.
Frisselle steps in for full-season Marsh Racing pilot Boris Said, who is recovering from a practice crash during last week’s event held at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park.
“We certainly appreciate Burt stepping in on such short notice,” said team owner Ted Marsh. “Boris is taking some time to recuperate and needs a couple of weeks out of the car so it’s great that Burt was available to join us. He’s a quick and experienced guy in these cars and will fit in quickly here. We are working to keep building on every race and having Burt join us will help us continue to move forward with this program.”
Frisselle has loads of Daytona Prototype experience having raced the machinery dating back to 2004. He spent the 2013 season racing a Corvette DP for Action Express Racing and drove to a third place podium result at Road America. Frisselle and his brother Brian contest the 2014 North American Endurance Cup for Action Express Racing and are currently second in the standings.
“I hate it for Boris and I wish him the best in his recovery,” said Frisselle who celebrated his 100th Daytona Prototype start at Indianapolis last year. “I am very excited to be joining Marsh Racing for the next two rounds of the IMSA TUDOR United SportsCar Championship. I hope to jump in and help make this unexpected driver change as smooth and seamless as possible. I’m thrilled to be back racing at such a historic venue in the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, and then one of the best circuits in the United States at Road America. I am grateful that Action Express Racing gave me their blessing to join Marsh Racing for the next two rounds and I’ll give Marsh Racing, my co-driver Eric Curran, and the No. 31 Whelen Corvette my absolute best effort.”
