Renowned television anchor/analyst Rick Benjamin is all set to host the 2014 ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards championship awards banquet in Indianapolis, Indiana Saturday night, December 13.

“It’s always an honor to be a part of ARCA’s celebration of another successful season,” Benjamin said. “I’m looking forward to honoring a new young champion in Mason Mitchell, as well as showcasing ARCA’s long list of great drivers, owners, crew chiefs, teams, and track operators. I can’t wait until next Saturday night in Indy!”

Benjamin has been broadcasting major racing series on national television since debuting on NASCAR Sprint Cup Series telecasts in 1984. He has also hosted IndyCar and major Sports Car events for three decades.

Benjamin began calling ARCA events in 1992 on TBS, moving with the series to TNN, SPEED, the NBC Sports Network, and the CBS Sports Network for live coverage in 2014. He returns for the sixth time overall as host of the ARCA Racing Series national awards.

The celebratory evening will take place in the Sagamore Ballroom inside the Indiana Convention Center in downtown Indy. It’s also where Mason Mitchell will be crowned as a first-time national champion, the 32nd different ARCA national champion since 1953. Mitchell will also be honored for earning the Hoosier Tire Superspeedway Challenge championship, the Menards Pole Award presented by Ansell title and the Bill France Four Crown award.

In addition to honoring the top-20 race teams, there’ll be plenty more to feature on stage and on the big screens, including the celebration of SCOTT Rookie of the Year Austin Wayne Self, Cometic Crew Chief of the Year Chad Bryant, CGS Imaging Hard Charger Frank Kimmel and much more.

Other special awards to be featured include the Marcum Award (one of ARCA’s highest honors named after series founder John Marcum), the HG Adcox Sportsman of the Year award and ARCA’s Spirit Award.

K&K Insurance and Sunoco Race Fuels will sponsor a pre-banquet reception from 5:15 to 6:30 with the awards ceremony following promptly at 6:30. A live auction will immediately follow the banquet, benefitting ARCA Chaplain Caleb Higgins, from Master’s Men Ministry.

The banquet coincides with the Performance Racing Industry trade show, which also takes place inside the Indiana Convention Center.
