The smallest NASCAR-sanctioned speedway will be back on the ARCA Truck Series schedule in 2015.
2015 will mark the fifth consecutive year that the 0.2-mile Lake County Speedway will be on the series’ calendar, back with two events.
The one-fifth mile paved oval is a favorite for many drivers in the series. Not only is it a favorite for drivers, but for series fans as well, producing many memorable finishes. The series will make their first stop at the track on June 6 for a 100 lap feature. The series will return in October for their series finale, a 125 lap affair.
Many drivers are excited to see Lake County Speedway on the schedule, including Brad Yunker.
“I’m always excited to race no matter where it is, but Lake County does have something special to it,” Yunker said. “There is a great atmosphere there, and a lot of interaction with the fans you don’t always get that at some tracks.”
SPEAR Motorsports owner Steve Perkins agrees, even though he was skeptical of the facility at first.
“(Lake County is) tight quarters; (you) always have to keep on your toes, but at the same time you have to be a little aggressive,” Perkins said of the track.
Lake County Speedway promoter Randy Holbrooks, who on occasion has competed with the series at his track, looks forward to welcoming back the series once again in 2015.
“Having the ARCA Truck Series has been great for us on a couple fronts,” Holbrooks said. “They bring a different style of racing for the fans to experience and they bring a level of professionalism that can be seen on and off the track.”
