April 26, 2014 — By John Tejada, NASCAR — OCESA photo — MONTERREY, Mexico – A pair of Telmex teammates led the two NASCAR Mexico Toyota Series practice sessions on Saturday at the Autódromo Monterrey.
Antonio Pérez posted a fast lap of 36.353 seconds (99.806 mph) in final practice for the Regia 240. The Guadalajara, Mexico, native has two victories at the one-mile paved oval. His first came in 2007 and his second in his championship season of 2008.
Two-time Monterrey winner Rubén Rovelo finished second on the speed chart at 36.430 seconds (98.820 mph), just ahead of Hugo Oliveras at 36.479 seconds (98.687 mph).
José Luis Ramírez was fourth quickes and Abraham Calderón fifth. Patrick Goeters, Mario Domínguez, Homero Richards, Luis Felipe Montaño, and Pérez, practicing the No. 3 Telcel Toyota for Daniel Suárez who was traveling to Monterrey from the NASCAR Nationwide Series and NASCAR K&N Pro Series East events in Richmond, completed the Top 10.
Ramírez, driver of the No. 5 Toyota for Telmex, led the first practice session, followed by Rovelo, Rafael Martínez, Domínguez, Pérez, Héctor Aguirre, Goeters, Richards, Contreras Jr. and Calderón rounded out the Top 10.
Qualifying for the Regia 240 is scheduled for 10:30 a.m. ET on Sunday, with the 150-lap event to follow at 1:45 p.m.
