LAS VEGAS — Kevin Harvick backed up his performance in the opening stage with a convincing victory during the second stage of Sunday’s Pennzoil 400 at Las Vegas Motor Speedway.

Harvick again led every competitive lap during the caution-free stage, only giving up the top spot when he came down for his pit stop at the mid-point of the stage and ultimately taking the green-checkered flag 5.317 seconds clear of polesitter Ryan Blaney.

The stage win was Harvick’s third of the year and ninth of his Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series career. He has now led 144 of the first 160 laps.

Blaney crossed the line in second, followed by Kyle Larson, Joey Logano and Kyle Busch.

Brad Keselowski, Martin Truex Jr., Kurt Busch, Chase Elliott and Paul Menard completed the top 10 and all scored bonus points at the second stage of the day.

The only scare on-track came with two laps to go in the stage, when Jeffrey Earnhardt brushed the outside wall, but Earnhardt was able to continue on and no caution flag was necessary.
