MOORESVILLE, N.C. — Germain Racing has hired veteran crew chief Matt Borland to call the shots for Ty Dillon and the No. 13 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 team next season in the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series.
Borland joins Germain Racing on a multi-year agreement, replacing the departing Bootie Barker atop the pit box.
Prior to his move over to the Germain team, Borland most recently served as the crew chief for Paul Menard at Richard Childress Racing, earning two top-fives and three top-10s with Menard in 2017. The pair’s best finish was third at Daytona Int’l Speedway in July.
“Matt Borland brings a varied skill set to our No. 13 program,” said team owner Bob Germain Jr. “With his engineering skills and veteran leadership, we are looking forward to continued improvements in our team results as we move into the new season and beyond.”
Dillon completed his rookie season in the Cup Series third overall in the Rookie of the Year standings, but did not crack the top-10 in any of the season’s 36 races. His best finish was 11th in both the Talladega and Phoenix playoff races, and he ended the year 24th in driver points.
