Same song, ninth verse for Joe Gibbs Racing.

Another JGR 1-2-3 in XFINITY Series qualifying results in Kyle Busch grabbing the pole for Friday night’s Alsco 300 at Kentucky Speedway. Teammate Daniel Suarez paced the first two rounds before Busch set a new track record in round three at 28.828 seconds (187.318 mph). The defending Cup champ has yet to win an XFINITY Series race at the 1.5-mile track, but has two wins on the Cup side at Kentucky.

Suarez qualified second in his No. 19 ARRIS Toyota while 20-year-old Erik Jones slotted in third. Jones finished runner-up in last year’s event and leads all XFINITY Series regulars with two wins. Auto Club winner Austin Dillon was fourth and Elliott Sadler completed the top-five for the first of two visits to Sparta in 2016.

Ryan Blaney qualified sixth in a second Team Penske Racing entry and was the fastest Ford with Roush-Fenway Racing’s Ryan Reed in seventh. Rookie Cole Custer was eighth followed by Blake Koch and defending race winner Brad Keselowski rounding out the top-10.

The green flag for the Alsco 300 drops shortly after 8:30 p.m. ET and can be seen live on NBCSN.
