SOPHIA, N.C. — By Tim Southers, NASCAR — Brenda Meserve/Speed51.com photo — George Brunnhoelzl III backed up his performance in practice by winning his second Coors Light Pole Award of the season during qualifying for the Southern Pride 150 at Caraway Speedway.
Brunnhoelzl finished with a fast lap time of 15.930 seconds (102.825 mph) which gave him the top spot in a NASCAR Whelen Southern Modified Tour race for the first time since March at Southern National Speedway.
Andy Seuss, the current points leader and winner of the past four tour races at Caraway, followed in second at 15.994 seconds (102.413 mph). Danny Bohn followed in third (16.001/102.369) with Spencer Davis (16.067/101.948) and Burt Myers (16.082/101.853) completed the top five.
Kyle Ebersole, Bryan Dauzat, Bobby Measmer Jr., Gary Putnam and Jason Myers rounded out the top 10.
J.R. Bertuccio, who currently sits third in the standings, had to change a motor after practice and will start in the rear of the 17-car field. Luke Flmeing also missed qualifying due to transmission issues and will also start at the rear of the field after fixing his car.
Green flag for the Southern Pride 150 is scheduled for approximately 9:30 p.m. ET.
