After fainting during an autograph session at Martinsville Speedway last weekend, Kyle Larson was forced to the sidelines of the STP 500 by doctors for precautionary reasons.

In his absence, Regan Smith drove the No. 42 Target Chevrolet to a 16th place finish at Martinsville.  Smith was called in just hours before the green flag on Sunday morning and quickly fit inside Larson’s ride.

On Thursday, Chip Ganassi Racing announced that Larson will be able to return to the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series racing starting next weekend at Texas Motor Speedway

The team released the news via a statement.

“Following a thorough review of all the test results by his attending physicians and in conjunction with the medical staff from NASCAR, Kyle Larson has been medically cleared to return to all NASCAR related activities beginning at Texas Motor Speedway next weekend, April 10-11.”

The NASCAR Sprint Cup Series will return to action following the Easter weekend break on Sunday April 12th at Texas Motor Speedway, for the running of the Duck Commander 500.
