NCATS PRACTICE: Dilley Accommodates Early At EIR; Fastest Across Two Practice Sessions In First Trip To Alberta Oval

WETASKIWIN, Alta. – By Jason Cunningham, NASCAR — Matthew Murnaghan/Getty Images for NASCAR photo — Mark Dilley made a good first impression Friday at Edmonton International Raceway in the inaugural appearance for the NASCAR Canadian Tire Series presented by Mobil 1 at the Alberta bullring.

Dilley, from Barrie, Ontario, posted the fast lap across two 45-minute practice sessions in advance of tonight’s inaugural Alberta Has Energy 300. Dilley’s quick turn around the quarter-mile oval of 12.591 seconds (71.480 mph) came in the second session. He ranked sixth on the board in first practice at 12.847 (70.055).

Following Dilley on the speed chart in final practice was reigning Canadian Tire Series champion Scott Steckly at 12.610 (71.372) and Alex Tagliani at 12.616 (71.338).

Steckly led the first session of the day at 12.707 (70.827) followed by Joey McColm at 12.753 (70.572) and Tagliani at 12.784 (70.401).

Qualifying for the Alberta Has Energy 300 is set for 5 p.m. MT with green flag slated for 8:35 p.m.
