KNPSE PRACTICE: King Rules in Richmond

April 24, 2014 — By Shon Sbarra, NASCAR — Getty Images for NASCAR photo — RICHMOND, Va. – Clint King topped the speed charts on Thursday at NASCAR K&N Pro Series East practice at Richmond International Raceway for the Blue Ox 100.

King, a Sunoco Rookie of the Year contender out of Denton, N.C., got around the .75-mile D-shaped oval in 22.567 seconds for and average speed of 119.644 mph on his fourth lap of the 80-minute session.

Jesse Little was second at 22.663 seconds (119.295 mph) followed by Scott Heckert at 22.634 seconds (119.290 mph). Brodie Kostecki at 22.744 seconds (118.713 mph) and Cameron Hayley with a time of 22.795 mph (118.447 mph) were fourth and fifth, respectively.

Kaz Grala, Lee Pulliam, Austin Hill, Kenzie Ruston and Daniel Suárez completed the top-10 performers.

Final practice is slated for Friday at 9 a.m. followed by qualifying at 2:05 p.m. The Blue Ox 100 is scheduled to take the green flag approximately at 9:30 p.m. following the NASCAR Nationwide Series event.
