GASTONIA, NC (August 30) – Ross Bailes continued his sterling 2013 campaign at Carolina Speedway as he outran a strong field of Carolina Workwear NDRA Late Models for the victory on Friday night.
Steve Banal made a mid-race pass on Ben Watkins for second in the late stages of the event but couldn’t run down Bailes. Watkins held on for third with Donnie Austin fourth and Matt Stover fifth.
Andy Thompson survived a post-race protest to score the Domino’s Pizza Street Stock win. Adam Vandiver, Ronald Pope, Jeff Graves and Josh Robbins rounded out the top five.
Ryan Ayers rolled to his second straight Stock Car Steel/SRI Open Wheel Modified win. Derrick Ramey, Matt Emmerling, Patrick Lyon and Troy Loomis completed the top five.
Jamie Major stayed red hot in the Tilley Harley Davidson Renegade division as he cruised to an easy win. Scott Freeman, Chris Stowe, Terry Quinn and Ronald Pope rounded out the top five.
Shannon Barnhill drove to the Q2U BBQ Pit Four Cylinder win. Patrick Lyon was second with Jerry Oliver third, David Hendrick fourth and Jason Day fifth.
Jonathan Surratt won in a three-wide photo finish with Casey Shane and Scott Cloninger to take the Hornets win. Christopher Meadows and Chase Webb completed the top five.
Carolina Speedway roars back to life this Friday night September 6th with a full racing program featuring the Roush Yates Late Models. Gates open at 5:00 with racing at 8:00 PM.
