When 19-year-old NASCAR Nationwide Series rookie Harrison Rhodes woke up on New Year’s Day, the last thing he expected was that he would soon be preparing to go to Phoenix International Raceway to race a car for Rick Ware Racing. He was planning an aggressive K&N East Series schedule when a call from his father revealed some newly opened doors and a sudden change of plans.
Having drawn praise for his heads-up performances at Phoenix and Darlington, and having tested at Charlotte Motor Speedway as well, Harrison has been tapped by RWR to compete at the “Monster Mile” in Dover, Delaware this weekend.
RaceChaser Online Editor-In-Chief Tom Baker caught up with Harrison as he was preparing for Dover and asked him about his season-to-date, his plans going forward and the adjustments a driver has to make when transitioning from bias-ply tires to radials or vice versa.
