March 20, 2014 — Mooresville, N.C. — photo credit MMM — Mason Mitchell and Mason Mitchell Motorsports come into Mobile with momentum on their side after a seventh place finish in the season opener at Daytona International Speedway with the ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards.
Mobile has proven to be a site for first-time winners in the ARCA Racing Series. In 2012 Cale Gale went to victory lane, and last year Grant Enfinger picked up his first career victory at the half mile.
“That alone gives me more confidence heading into Mobile,” Mitchell said. “I think it would be a great weekend if I could get my first victory and keep that streak going.”
“This is the first time ARCA will have double file restarts on a short track; it’s gonna be exciting for sure. The fans will get their money’s worth. Tire management will be key as well. The tires have a pretty big fall off. If we have consistent speed on the long runs we will have a shot to win.”
Last year Mitchell made his first start at Mobile with the ARCA Racing Series and finished a solid 8th after starting in the 14th position.
Mitchell’s top 10 streak is now up to a career high 10 after finishing seventh in the season opener at Daytona. During this stretch the Iowa native has earned two poles, four top-fives and back to back runner-up finishes at Kentucky and Kansas.
This weekend Mitchell will pilot chassis No. 588 which will be making its on-track debut this weekend at Mobile International Speedway.
