The runner-up finish last weekend at Iowa Speedway didn’t slow down Cunningham Motorsports driver Kyle Weatherman down.

Weatherman put his No. 22 Ford on top of the speed charts in both ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards practices Friday afternoon at Lucas Oil Raceway. The 17-year-old driver an New Jersey winner turned the fastest lap of the day at 22.626 seconds (109.149 mph) in practice. Like position number one on the scoring pylon in the two sessions, second and third-place didn’t change  either.

NASCAR K&N Pro Series East teammates J.J. Haley and William Byron fell in right behind Weatherman. Haley put up a lap of 22.68 seconds (108.889 mph) in his No. 74 Braun Auto Group Chevrolet and making his first series start since April at Salem Speedway. Byron is driving for Venturini Motorsports Friday night and slotted in after Haley in third (108.33 mph). The K&N Series points leader is making his ARCA series debut tonight in the No.55 Liberty University Toyota.

Defending race winner Brandon Jones was fourth in both practice sessions with a fastest speed of 108.107 mph (22.844 seconds). The top four drivers all ran over 108 mph in final practice, with Weatherman being the only driver to break into the 109 mph barrier in both practices.

Cunnigham driver Chase Briscoe was fifth quick in the first practice, with Grant Enfinger grabbed the same spot during the final session. Enfinger made his first start with GMS Racing in last year’s event.

Brian Keselowski returns to the ARCA Series for the first time since 2012 and was eighth and 16th in the practices, respectively. ARCA/CRA Super Series driver Travis Braden didn’t partake in the first practice, but turned the ninth-fastest time in final practice at 23.047 seconds (107.155 mph)

Practice is all done for the ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards and the cars will take to the track next for qualifying at 5:30 p.m ET.
