Lira Motorsports made it official.

Wentzville, Missouri’s Kyle Weatherman will drive the No. 58 Lira Motorsports Ford Fusion in 2016, beginning with the 53rd running of the Lucas Oil 200 at Daytona Int’l Speedway Saturday, February 13.

Weatherman, who turned 18 in August, will make his career-first attempt at Daytona, one of two restrictor plate tracks on the ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards tour.

“I am really excited to get behind the wheel of the No. 58 Ford Fusion down in Daytona,” Weatherman said. “We have worked really hard in the shop the past few weeks, and our hard work is going to pay off.”

The Roush Fenway Racing development driver will buckle in behind the wheel of the No.58 Lira Motorsports Ford with marketing partners Fresh Water-St. Charles Glass, Ford Performance, MOMO, and TraqGear. Veteran crew chief Sam Schram will call the shots for Weatherman this season. Weatherman and Schram worked together during the open test in mid-January.

“During the off-season, my guys have given 110% effort into getting this car ready for Daytona, and we look to carry that momentum to the track each week as we strive to win races and claim the championship at the end of the year.”

Weatherman, the 2015 SCOTT Rookie of the Year and defending Short Track Challenge champion, competed in 15 ARCA events last season with big results, earning one win at New Jersey Motorsports Park (road course debut) among 10 top-five finishes. He also led 319 laps and won three Menards Pole Awards presented by Ansell.
